Spring Semester

We hope everyone had a great holiday season!  The staff at Steps would like to thank the students and families for the wonderful gifts we received.  Our Spring Semester resumes January 8th and we are looking forward to a wonderful new semester of dance.

Fall Semester

Fall Semester has been a very busy and successful time with many special events offered for students at Steps.  Pictured below are some of the dancers events and activities.

Steps Creative Arts Center Open House, Nutcracker Auditions, City Wide Rummage Sale, TinaMarie Holland Workshops, Halloween Week at Steps, Sugar Plum Tea Party, “The Nutcracker” 2017, Dierbergs Performance.

“The Nutcracker” 2017

Steps 2017 Nutcracker Production was a big success with a large audience attendance for both performances.  A production of this magnitude is a very important part of a students dance education.  Teaching that dedication and hard work results in success and pride in what they have achieved is just one of our goals for the students.

Educational Dance Opportunities

Steps is a Ballet based school focused on offering the best education and training in Ballet and Modern dance.  Whether the students are intending to pursue a career in dance or just taking class for recreational purposes, our classes provide students with lifelong tools.  We do, however, recognize that there are other instructors and other areas of dance that we would like to offer our students.  Here are some opportunities that we have made available in the past.  We look forward to offering many more workshops in the future.

Ballet Master Classes with Stefani Schrimpf & Juan Pablo Trujillo, Hip Hop Workshop with James Singelton of Kansas City, Broadway Master Class with Hollie Howard, New York Talent Scout Seminar with Peter Sklar, Golden Girl Workshop with Brittany Dickemann, New York Talent Scout Master Classes with TinaMarie Holland.  Auditions for summer dance intensives to include- Kansas School of Classical Ballet, Joffery Ballet, The Rock

Steps will be celebrating National Dance Week with fun filled activities for all.  A dance poster contest, “Why I Love To Dance”, treats, and much more will be available.  Parents are invited on Thursday March 1st for a “Parent Appreciation Party” to show our appreciation for allowing your child to take part in the wonderful world of dance with us.  There will be appetizers, music, fun dance history and more.

Steps Summer Dance Camps

Once again we will be offering the following summer camps-

Fairy Tale Workshop- ages 3-6 & Summer Dance Intensive- ages 7 & Up

Summer Camps will be held in the months of June, July and August.  Exact dates will be posted at a later time.

Along with our own summer camps we will be taking a group of dancers to Kansas School of Classical Ballet Summer Dance Camp.  Those times will also be posted on the bulletin board.

As we go into winter season we would like to remind everyone that Steps typically follows the schools in regards to closing due to inclement weather.  It is very difficult for us to have one rule of thumb regarding school closings as we have students from at least 5 school districts.  We ask parents to use good judgment when it comes to driving your child to class.  We try to have a message on our phone recorder or you can check our Steps Page on Facebook.
